Thor Lake ready to go in 2021

Vital Metals said its rare earths demonstration project at the Nechalacho/Thor Lake site near Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada, is ready to begin mining and ore sorting operations next year.

Site preparation work was set to begin near press time and be complete by the end of the first quarter of 2021. A winter road will also be constructed in 2020 to allow for equipment delivery.

Vital Metals has projected the facility’s start in April 2021, and the sensor-based, chemical- and water-free facility element to be ready by next October.

Nechalacho/Thor Lake, which will be operated by Vital Metals’ Cheetah Resources Canada subsidiary, will produce neodymium and praseodymium.
