Freeport-McMoRan appoints Olmsted

Arizona-headquartered miner Freeport-McMoRan, effective Aug. 7, appointed Joshua Olmsted as its president and chief operating officer for the Americas, replacing a now-retired Harry “Red” Conger IV.

Conger had been with the producer for 22 years. His retirement was effective Sept. 1.

Olmsted, a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines, most recently held the position of senior vice president – Americas for F-M. With 28 years of service to the company under his belt, he was previously in senior leadership roles at several operating sites in the United States and South America.

Over the last four years, he took over increasing leadership responsibilities within the company’s Americas organization to drive critical operational, technology and transformational initiatives.
