American Resources picks up CMs for Kentucky mine

American Resources confirmed in mid-August that it signed a contract to acquire two additional continuous miners for the Perry County Resources mining complex in Hazard, Ky.

The company did not indicate the makes and models of the CMs, but did say that the units will play a role in its move to ramp up carbon production at PCR to have five continuous miners over the next year with two supersections and one bridge section – thus offering maximum efficiency.

It will add additional CMS to the fleet to achieve a high degree of redundancy, it confirmed, and reduce downtime.

American Resources is anticipating via its forecasted production schedule that it will boost its PCR complex to over 1 million tons shipped to the PCI, semi-soft metallurgical carbon and specialty stoker markets.
